Introduction
A rising star of Southern African tourism, Mozambique boasts a wealth of island-based attractions, from silver, palm-fringed beaches and teeming reefs to towering sand dunes and forest-clad interiors. Our choices include premier destinations in the Bazaruto Archipelago – a world-class conservation area and a paradise for marlin anglers, snorkellers, divers and watersports enthusiasts of every description. The Quirimbas Archipelago is a more remote destination consisting of thirty two tropical coral islands stretching from Pemba to the Rovuma River which forms the natural frontier between Tanzania and Mozambique. These islands contain some of the richest coral reefs in the world and provide habitat for an abundant array of marine life. Some of the charming islands in the south include a vast expanse of enchanted forest in the Quirimbas National Park.
There’s a choice of ways to get here. Fly via Johannesburg's OR Tambo Airport with South African Airways, British Airways or Virgin Atlantic, and onwards to Vilanculos on Pelican Air, via Dar es Salaam or Nairobi and onwards to Pemba with LAM (Linhas Aereas de Mocambique) or OR Tambo Airport to Pemba with South African Airlink.
Wherever you travel you will experience Mozambique’s unique blend of African, Arabian and Portuguese influences – particularly noticeable in the spicy cuisine and the hot Latin beat of the local music. As you laze in your dhow at sunset you will be glad you chose to discover these exquisite islands before the rest of the world catches on.
