Introduction

The Kremlin lies at the heart of Moscow both physically and historically. A city within a city it comprises a multitude of palaces, armouries, churches and a medieval fortress. Red Square, home of the Lenin mausoleum, lies along its east side, with the Moscow River to its south. Most of the city’s sights stand within an area that can easily be covered on foot.
