Introduction
Discover a tropical world of dramatic mountains, volcanic lakes and dazzling white sand beaches bordered by the clear turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Savour mouth-watering cuisine influenced by the island’s French, Creole and Indian heritage. Dance the sultry nights away to soft sega rhythms or play baccarat in the casinos. Be pampered beyond your dreams and spend sunny days snorkelling in the lagoons or deep-sea fishing for marlin.
Mauritius also provides opportunities to enjoy spectacular natural scenery filled with fascinating wildlife. In Domaine du Chasseur, forest-clad slopes hide stags, monkeys, wild boar and many exotic wild orchids. Domaine de l’Yang Ylang at Vieux Grand Port, where perfume is distilled from the fragrant yellow flowers, commands a panoramic view over the bay, Domaine Les Pailles close to Port Louis is a nature park that spreads over three thousand acres, the Black River Gorges National Park offers walking trails through forest and rushing river canyons.

Rebecca Askwith - Mauritius
My visit to Mauritius was without a doubt an unforgettable experience with lasting memories of delicious authentic cuisine, beautiful scenery and extremely friendly people.
My stay began at the romantic all-villa Taj Exotica Resort and Spa, ideal for couples looking to holiday in a beautiful villa with private pool. Situated with stunning ocean views, the beautifully decorated open-air living and dining veranda is a unique setting for candlelit dinners.
For those who need re-energising a visit to the spa’s hydrotherapy cascade pool and yoga pavilion must be included on the agenda. Follow this with an exquisite meal from the a la carte menu at the hotel’s speciality restaurant, which offers the finest Pan-Asian and Indian food. Finally, end the night in the chic, contemporary bar sipping cocktails until the early hours.
You cannot leave Taj Exotica Resort and Spa until you have been snorkelling in the crystal clear waters of the lagoons over colourful coral reefs and experienced the true natural beauty surrounding the island.
