Few natural wonders can match the awesome splendour of the Victoria Falls.
Described as 'the smoke that thunders', few natural wonders can match the awesome splendour of the Victoria Falls as they tumble into the gorge below. Zambia is fortunate in having the Zambezi River and the Victoria Falls as a natural border and can combine a Falls viewing trip with an unforgettable safari experience. Our representatives will be pleased to tailor an exclusive itinerary around your special interests, be it cruising on the Zambezi, white water rafting, viewing big game, elephant riding or flying over the Falls in a helicopter. Famed for its walking safaris, Zambia is the wilderness home to a diverse range of game, including elephants, lions, leopards, crocodiles and over four hundred species of birds. Many can be viewed in the South Luangwa National Park, one of nineteen parks providing visitors with up-close wildlife encounters. The Royal Livingstone, with its Zambezi River frontage, offers direct access to the Falls, whilst recreational possibilities include river cruises and lunch right on the edge of the Falls at Livingstone Island.
Helicopter flight over the Falls Walking safaris - Zambia developed the concept of the walking safari and with the specialist guides and trackers it is one of the best ways to explore the country's national parks. Wildlife - Zambia offers impressive diversity of game as well as some of the most remote bush on the continent. With over 740 species of bird to be found it has also proved to be a place to see endangered and sought after species. San Pan Dinner - Enjoy a private candlelit dinner whilst floating on the Zambezi River. The lunar rainbow at the Falls - An amazing spectacle that appears during the full moon at Victoria Falls. Fishing for tiger fish White water rafting Livingstone Island - The island lies in the middle of Victoria Falls and is the place from which Dr Livingstone first saw the Falls. Trips can be arranged and give you the opportunity to take in the scenery and views over the edge, followed by a champagne lunch or afternoon tea.
Zambia has several cultural festivals and ceremonies rarely seen by tourists and as such visitors should be asked to behave with sensitivity as these are often for the benefit of local people and are not preformed as a tourist attraction. The Ku-omboka | Usually held around Easter it heralds the retreat of the Lozi people from the floodplains as the water levels rise each year. A huge ceremony can be witnessed as the king summons the people and heads up the river. The day ends in Limulunga with an evening of eating, drinking and displays of local crafts and singing. Likumbi Lya Mize | Held in western Zambia the Luvale people hold an annual fete celebration which lasts for 4 or 5 days at the end of August. It's an opportunity to see the senior chief and watch the popular Makishi dancers.
Freshwater fish, such as bream, Nile perch and lake salmon Baobab White - a drink made with the fruit from the Baobab tree Handicrafts, carvings and baskets are all made locally Nshima - a traditional cooked porridge made from ground maize and with meat or fish
