Encased amidst twelve acres of lush tropical gardens overlooking a picturesque bay, the award-winning Coral Reef Club, Barbados is a tribute to the professionalism, creativity and vision of the O’Hara family. A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, the style is reminiscent of a rich colonial heritage, and has built up a loyal following from those who love the landscaped gardens and complimentary non-motorised watersports. Undoubtedly one of the main draws enticing guests to return is the focus on health and wellbeing. Set within the beautifully landscaped grounds, a tranquil spa offers treatment rooms with foot ritual patios and private gardens, shaded cabanas around the hydro-pool and a Thermal Suite with a crystal steam room and experience shower.
Elegant fabrics and furnishings have always contributed towards the strong visual appeal of the rooms, whilst the tasteful interiors and private plunge pools of the Plantation Suites, Luxury Cottages and Suites ensure their ranking amongst the most sought-after accommodation on the island. Convivial evenings at Coral Reef Club start with cocktails in the piano bar followed by dinner in the oceanside terrace restaurant, with the à la carte selections complemented by barbecues and buffets. Steel bands and gentle jazz rhythms enhance the Caribbean ambience. Complimentary sporting activities include floodlit tennis, a well-equipped gym and non-motorised watersports.

The pace at Coral Reef Club Barbados is a gentle one. Managed by the O'Hara family for over 50 years, this exclusive resort on the west coast is one of the West Indies' finest hotels and perfect for families. The beach is paradisiacal and spotlessly clean - ideal for swimming and snorkelling - and there are well-planned areas, roped off from boaters. Older children especially will be happy with what's on offer, from complimentary kayaking to paddle boarding. To help channel their exuberance, swimming and sailing clubs are run during summer holidays. For the ideal family activity, make the most of the catamarans.
Evenings at the Coral Reef Club are no timid affair, with the jovial sounds of calypso, reggae and jazz music filling the air. On Monday evenings, savour rum-based cocktails and a colourful West Indian buffet at the weekly cocktail party, hosted at the home of the O’Hara family. Thursday’s are all about barbecue meats and limbo dancing, with sirloin steaks, jumbo prawns and freshly-caught fish lining the racks. Live entertainment is hosted every evening during the winter, with the exception of two evenings during the summer.
Join one of Coral Reef Club's expert gardeners for a tour of the beautiful tropical gardens every Wednesday. Walk amongst the bougainvillea, past Frangipani and Mahogany trees and down the rolling lawns to the sea, before seeking shade under one of the popular Casuarina trees.
Characterised by warm, generally dry days, visitors can fully enjoy the sweet, slow rhythm of Barbadian life during the peak months between January and April. Although prices are at their highest, tourists are guaranteed sun kissed days, which is perfect for making the most of the water sports and attractions to discover.
