Sagres / Martinhal Sagres Beach Family Resort

Understated luxury and genuine hospitality distinguish Martinhal Sagres Beach Family Resort as an excellent family destination which lies within a protected natural park on the unspoilt Western Algarve.

Rooms in this stylish beachfront hotel – all with ocean views - are complemented by a selection of spacious, two-floor family houses with floor-to-ceiling windows and front or back lawns, some with their own private swimming pool.

Traditional Portuguese recipes have been re-invented with flair and imagination at O Terraço, a contemporary venue for group dining, featuring an alfresco wooden terrace and kids’ corner. Fish aficionados should head for As Dunas, while Os Gambozinos is the place for delicious Italian specialities. The surf-themed M Bar, also with a kids’ games area, is a fun hideaway decked out with cosy sofas and quirky highlights such as a 1970s VW Campervan booth.

The resort’s village square houses a choice of indoor and outdoor swimming pools, whilst the beach is supervised by life guards. For rejuvenating therapies and treatments by Terraké and Voya, unwind in the expansive Finisterra Spa; tween, teen, family treatments and baby massages are also on offer.

When is the best time to visit Portugal & Madeira?

Southern Portugal including the Algarve enjoys a Mediterranean climate with hot dry summers and mild winters. July and August are hot but temperatures are moderated by sea breezes. A good time to visit Portugal is May to June and September to October, where days are pleasantly warm and sunny. Madeira is a good year-round destination with temperatures remaining pleasantly mild over the winter months.
