Kata Rocks is made up of minimalist villas stacked down a cliff edge, on the increasingly swanky southwest coast of Phuket. The chic white-on-white interiors are designed by Kelly Hoppen, some villas with up to four bedrooms and all with pools and uninterrupted floor-to-ceiling views across the Andaman Sea.
Kata Rocks’s newest themed night gives guests the opportunity to experience film like never before. Using mystery boxes filled with bite-sized canapés and cocktails tailored to specific moments in the film, the carefully selected aromas, textures and tastes will ensure guests become entirely immersed in the viewing. Food-matched moments will be signalled by a screen-side light box highlighting the package number to be opened and enjoyed.
Kata Rocks has recently released its own distinctive limited-edition brand of locally distilled gin, aptly named the Spirit of Kata Rocks. Designed to appeal to both lifetime gin connoisseurs as well as the new generation of gin enthusiasts, the spirit starts with a healthy infusion of Peruvian juniper berries and Angelica wild ginseng that is then finished with a bold flourish of local Thai herbs and exceptional Asian spices. Best enjoyed as a sundowner at The Oceanfront Bar and Restaurant at Kata Rocks.
Adding to its impressive superyacht credentials (the resort already plays host to one of Asia’s most exclusive events – the annual Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous), guests can choose from over 35 yachts available for private charter around Phuket and Phang Nga Bay.
Thailand is generally very hot and humid with distinct dry and rainy seasons. The best time to visit most resorts, including Phuket, Khao Sok, Krabi, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, is from November to March, with the exception of Koh Samui which is best visited from December to August. However, with ever-changing weather patterns and excellent offers, it is well worth considering a holiday during the shoulder seasons.
