"Taking a twin-centre escape in the Maldives with Constance Resorts gave me the best of all the islands' have to offer"

Following her recent twin-centre escape to the Maldives, Carrier’s Deb Matthews picks out her top recommendations for Constance Halaveli below...

Suitable for / everyone

You wouldn’t be disappointed if you came here as a couple looking for a rustic, romantic escape away from the world. But Constance Halaveli is also ideal for families with younger children; as well as an excellent kids club for those aged 4-12, the introduction of the ‘Bracelet Barter’ initiative is sure to be a big hit with the little ones – upon arrival, they’re offered five bracelets which can then be exchanged with the chefs during their stay for delicious treats, including smoothies, pancakes and generous scoops of ice cream. The Constance Moments touch really comes into its own here for children too – in the Family Beach Villa I stayed in I found a balloon tied to a pre-stamped postcard, with a note saying ‘let your friends know you’re here’.  Adorable.

Worth getting out of bed for / early morning snorkelling on the reef

Encircled by a white-sand beach, it’s possible to snorkel straight from your villa with the complimentary equipment from the resort. However, if you are keen for a more magical excursion, book an early morning boat trip out to the sandbank. Only visible when the tide is low - and with a magnificent coral reef just metres away from the shoreline - you’ll be able to walk around, sunbathe, or jump straight in to the azure waters. Within the first five minutes of snorkelling, I saw a sea turtle swimming beneath me and a huge shoal of sting rays; after an hour in the open waters I felt like I was submerged in a real-life Finding Nemo film set.

Wind down / at the spa

I had the most amazing massage I have ever had at U Spa by Constance. Watching marine life through the glass bottom floors of the overwater treatment pavilions was mesmerising and instantly relaxing. Following my massage, I was led to the dedicated relaxation lounge, where I was invited to stay as long as I please to enjoy the very literal act of switching-off from everything.
