Perched on the white sands of Trou d’Eau Douce bay, on the beautiful east coast of Mauritius and overlooking the tranquil, crystal blue waters of the Indian Ocean, is Shangri-La's Le Touessrok Resort & Spa. Freshly re-designed ocean view rooms and suites – many with direct access to the beach and all with large bay windows - now have the stylishly understated Shangri-La look and feel following an extensive six month long renovation and re-brand in 2015. For those seeking seclusion, nearby are three exclusive Beach Villas, each the epitome of cool with a private pool. An impressive array of restaurants and bars include beachside dining at Republik Beach Club and Grill, the freshest contemporary Japanese cuisine at Kushi and Le Bazar for a tantalising fusion of Asian and international fare. Further relaxed feet-in-the sand restaurants are found on nearby Ile aux Cerfs, reached by private boat, which also hosts the challenging Bernhard Langer designed 18-hole championship golf course. Active guests will be kept entertained by a variety of watersports from kayaking to waterskiing, while a Tennis Club provides further recreation. Children can escape to the T-Club, whilst teenagers have their own retreat at the Teens Club. The hotel boasts an indulgent spa specialising in intoxicatingly relaxing treatments. Carrier top tip: chill out at the trendy beach club on Ilot Mangenie– a paradisiacal island exclusively for guests.

From 11 April - 26 May 2018, Le Touessrok Resort & Spa will host a new and exciting gastronomic collaboration with The Test Kitchen, where award-winning Chef-Patron Luke Dale Roberts will showcase a tapas menu and two different five-course set menus that reflect his personal journey around the world and specifically incorporate Mauritian spices and flavours at their best. Opened in 2010, The Test Kitchen has an international appeal and a continuous waiting list of nine months at the very minimum, with diners from across the globe travelling to South Africa to experience the unique culinary journey of 21 courses which is innovatively presented on a ‘Food Map’.
Under this new partnership, guests of Shangri-La will be able to experience the gastronomic magic for themselves. Guests will start their evening at the Republik Bar area to enjoy the tapas menu with cocktails as associated with the Dark Room concept, before continuing their journey at the beachfront restaurant, for a five-course set menu in tribute to the iconic restaurant’s Light Room.
Mauritius is a year round destination and experiences a warm subtropical climate, with relatively little seasonal variation in temperatures year round. May to October is dry with comfortable temperatures ranging between 18°C and 24°C with cooling tradewinds coming in from the southeast. Visitors during these dates will often benefit from excellent offers from the hotels. November to April is much warmer and humid with average temperatures ranging between 25°C to 33°C with an increase in rainfall. January and February tend to be the wettest months with the possibility of tropical storms although this is a rarity.
