"The highlight of this trip was kayakig over from Six Senses Zil Pasyon on Félicité Private Island to the exclusive Coco Island..."
The private island of Félicité is, without a doubt, one of the most dramatically beautiful and unspoilt islands within the Seychelles. Nestled amongst 652 acres of lush tropical vegetation, and built into striking granite rocks overlooking the powdery white sand beaches, is Six Senses Zil Pasyon – the only resort on the island and the newest luxury offering in the breath-taking Seychelles archipelago, having only opened to guests in September 2016.
From the moment I arrived, I felt a sense of relaxation wash over me. Due to the steep hill sides into which the 30 pool villas have been constructed, I was driven by buggy to my Hideaway Pool Villa, learning that they are available on request throughout my stay should I require assistance with getting around the island.
Six Senses are renowned for creating mesmerising and intimate spaces in areas of scenic splendour, and their foray into the Seychelles is no exception; all villas come complete with an expansive infinity pool, a private deck and exquisite views of the Indian Ocean.
Keen to explore the rest of Six Senses’ offerings, I resisted the urge to slip immediately into the water and made my way to Koko Bar by the main pool. To my surprise I was greeted with complimentary water and coconut water, both of which were a lovely extra touch. Deciding that cooling down from the heat on the over-water sun loungers whilst looking out to sea was the only way to spend my afternoon, I surrendered to a state of relaxation I can only describe as Zen.
The weekly management cocktail party fell during my stay, offering ambiance as the sun set and an opportunity to really get to know the staff. I was also lucky enough to experience the open air cinema; watching Slum Dog Millionaire with blankets, popcorn and the sound of the ocean crashing into the rocks was only bettered by the most spectacular views of the night sky as I turned to look up into the chasm of endless twinkling stars.
Considered as one of the satellite islands of La Digue as well as Grande Soeur, Petite Soeur, Coco and Marianne, Felicite offers the ultimate island hopping experience, although you would be forgiven for wishing to remain tucked away in your own private utopia for the duration of your stay. I'd recommend Six Senses for honeymooners and couples longing to get away from it all, but particularly for those who like to stay active while away. The gym at Zil Pasyon is outstanding; set on the very top of Félicité Island, it offers unparalleled panoramic views and is my favourite resort gym of all time.
