South Africa / Leopard Hills Private Game Reserve

Small, intimate and exclusive, this elevated sanctuary offers the very highest level of cuisine, accommodation and personal service.

Game drives are conducted in state-of-the-art Land Rovers with bucket seats and fold-down armrests. With only eight beautifully appointed, glass fronted suites, privacy is assured. Romantic bathrooms feature indoor and outdoor showers, whilst air conditioning and overhead fans provide added comfort against the African heat.

The private sundecks and plunge pools are perfect venues for relaxing and enjoying the bushveld views. Dine on the veranda or in the dining room overlooking a natural waterhole, or enjoy a traditional meal at the boma – all accompanied by wines from the extensive cellar. Cool down after a game drive or guided walk with a dip in the refreshing pool or unwind with a treatment in the massage sala.

Home to the Big Five

Small, intimate and very exclusive, this firm favourite for novices and old hands alike is positioned in one of the greatest game-viewing areas in South Africa and arguably the best place to get an incredible sight of its namesake animal. Those with a passion for wildlife photography will be able to pick up various tips from their personal rangers who are all keen photographers themselves - it is not unusual to see all of the Big Five in a single game drive here.

When to visit South Africa

A year round destination, but expect cooler weather in the Eastern and Western Capes during winter, between June and August. Mpumalanga stays warm year round with temperatures, humidity and rainfall all increasing in the summer months between October and March. The whales return to the waters around Hermanus from July to November, and the spring months of August and September are particularly colourful along the Garden Route.

The prime time for game viewing is generally the drier winter and spring months from April to September when animals frequent the waterholes. During the wetter summer months between October and March, animals can still be viewed but are more widely dispersed – from December to February there may be more sightings of newborn animals.
