Cape Town / The Last Word: Constantia

This intimate boutique hotel lies in the Cape’s oldest and most beautiful wine valley, with a number of vineyards in close proximity.

Nine elegantly-appointed and spacious suites, some with expansive open-plan bathrooms and hand-crafted mosaic showers, are decorated in classic refined style, the Family suite having two en-suite bedrooms, while two Pool suites offer a private pool and garden. Superior double rooms have patios overlooking the tranquil garden and pool. Relax in the bright and airy lounge, dining area or sun deck. Enjoy sumptuous breakfasts and afternoon tea, with dinner and lunch on request, or explore the tempting choice of restaurants in the surrounding area. A chauffeur service can be arranged. Seclusion is assured by the solar heated swimming pool and tanning deck surrounded by lush gardens. Constantia has much to offer oenophiles in the form of wine tastings and cellar tours in nearby estates. The city centre and waterfront are just a fifteen minute drive away.

When to visit South Africa

A year round destination, but expect cooler weather in the Eastern and Western Capes during winter, between June and August. Mpumalanga stays warm year round with temperatures, humidity and rainfall all increasing in the summer months between October and March. The whales return to the waters around Hermanus from July to November, and the spring months of August and September are particularly colourful along the Garden Route.

The prime time for game viewing is generally the drier winter and spring months from April to September when animals frequent the waterholes. During the wetter summer months between October and March, animals can still be viewed but are more widely dispersed – from December to February there may be more sightings of newborn animals.
