Today’s Resort, just steps from the palace, comprises a series of dwellings, most a century old or more, in which the Suites surround an open courtyard, their ceilings open to reveal exposed roof beams; their furnishings inspired by the Ming Dynasty. Among the many dining experiences, Naoki serves French Kaiseki in which French flair meets Japanese artistry. Relaxation is provided by an extensive spa facility, lap pool and library.
China’s climate varies greatly but is characterised by hot summers and cold winters. The most popular months to visit are April, May, September and October when temperatures are at their most pleasant.
