Review / Review of Alila Villas Uluwatu

Amelia Hoyes

“With spectacular cliff-side views over the ocean and over 600 steps down to the beach, this isolated resort is ideal for young honeymooners”

Carrier's Amelia Hoyes recently visited Alila Villas Uluwatu and was blown away by their striking design and contemporary vibe...

One of a kind / design

Alila Villas in Uluwatu showcases the most striking archictecture and design – as soon as you arrive you will find yourself mesmerised by both the bright white blocks in which the reception and restaurant are housed and the jaw-dropping wooden sunset cabana, an overhanging cliffiside platform offering up the most dramatic vistas of the Indian Ocean. The unique - and eco-friendly - design of the hotel somehow manages to combine a chic, contemporary vibe with elements of traditional Balinese pavilion architecture.  Don’t miss out on the private and remote stretch of beach – accessible with a short walk through the jungle and a 600 step descent, but it’s worth it once you get to the bottom. All is not lost if you choose to stay up high – there is a 50 metre cliff edge infinity pool where you could easily lose yourself for hours at a time. I’d definitely recommend Alila Villas for young honeymooners dreaming of a secluded, intimate escape.
