Venice / Baglioni Hotel Luna

In the heart of Venice, nestled between the dazzling landmarks of Piazza San Marco and Giuedecca lagoon, lies Baglioni Hotel Luna; a charming city-centre haven where the history is grand and the location is key.

Although just steps away from some of the city’s most iconic sights, the Baglioni Hotel Luna bypasses the inevitable hustle and bustle of Venice, instead opting for seclusion and an atmosphere that provides the perfect base for a couples city break or family cultural getaway. With a history that’s as grand as its location, this is one of Venice’s oldest hotels and an icon in its own right – having been built on the site of a former chapel that dated back to the Knights Templar of the 12th century.

Once inside, there’s a choice of suites that exude Venetian grandeur; swathed in luxury fabrics and lavish details such as Murano chandeliers in every room. It is also home to the two-bedroom San Giorgio Terrace Suite, one of the most famous in the city boasting the largest hotel terrace and uninterrupted views of San Giorgio island. As for mealtimes, the fare is always gourmet, and served in the breathtaking ballroom, where walls are adorned with frescos painted by the pupils of Tiepolo.

Those wishing to venture out into the city’s canals to explore can do so via the hotel’s private jetty, or for an unusual view, hop aboard a helicopter or yacht chartered by the Baglioni’s team of dedicated staff.

When to visit Italy

Italy is a year round destination especially for city breaks, with a largely temperate climate with regional variations. Summers are hot especially from Rome southwards, whilst spring and autumn are mild. Winter in the south is warmer and drier than in the northern and central areas which can be much colder with snow fall in the mountainous regions.
