Twenty three stories above the Catalonian clamour stands the sleek modern façade of Nobu Hotel Barcelona, the newest addition by industry-dominating duo: celebrated chef Nobu Matsuhisa and actor/director Robert De Niro.
Hidden inside, Nobu defies mainstream hotel design mixing oriental artistry with Barcelona’s urban setting. Needless to say the signature restaurant is the centrepiece and takes pride of place at the tower’s pinnacle. Expect a world famous Japanese menu with a local flair; while down at street level, a more laid-back approach can be found in aptly named tapas bar, Kozara, meaning ‘small plates’ in Japanese.
Sandwiched between the two eateries, quiet soundproof rooms provide a respite from the bustle of city life with floor-to-ceiling windows still allowing you to sightsee over art nouveau roofs to the ocean’s edge. Top tip: for sweeping cityscapes, go for a Skyline Room or a Zen/Sake/Uni Suite on the 12th – 22nd floors. For the most spacious and standout, we’d choose the Nobu Suite – here, up to 12 can take in the horizon over a nightcap in the private bar or while enjoying signature Nobu dishes delivered directly from restaurant to room (we recommend the Black Cod Den Miso).

Catering to time conscious weekenders or perhaps those on a fleeting visit pre or post cruise, Nobu is the place for sophisticated travellers looking to absorb Barcelona’s pioneering vibes. Located in a secluded corner of the city, the Eixample district’s close proximity promises art connoisseurs quintessential must-sees that aren’t too far away. Muse over works in the national gallery; take in 360° rooftop views atop a bullfighting arena-turned-shopping hub and marvel at edifices that redefined Barcelona’s skyline – from Montjuic Olympic Park to Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia.
Mainland Spain’s climate varies from temperate in the north to dry and hot in the south. Spring and autumn are pleasant and warm whereas July and August are hot, particularly inland. In Mallorca sunshine and warm temperatures are the norm from April to October with the cooling influence of the sea preventing excessive temperatures during the peak summer months, winters are mild and dry with occasional showers. Tenerife and Gran Canaria are year-round destinations, the climate being constantly warm for most of the year with July and August being hot.
