This is a place that practically has ‘honeymooners’ etched into every inch of the island. Dazzling white sand beaches, romantic villas and an All-Inclusive approach leaves you wanting for nothing once you arrive. The theme at Manta restaurant changes nightly each week, so there’s never the possibility of getting bored with the dining options available, and for couples who are looking for a bit more of a buzz, a DJ livens up the beach every Saturday night. While families are welcomed, there is no designated kids club, so it’s not as good a fit as Halaveli in the North Atoll for those who are coming with little ones in tow.
The views from your undeniably large bed are divine, and with enough amenities and a mini-bar to see you through until midday at least, you’d be forgiven for not wanting to leave your villa. And yet, getting up with the sun to take a yoga class looking out onto the beach, followed by the most epic breakfast buffet, was definitely the best start to my day.
Dining on the beach at restaurant Alizée – an à la carte delight offering up the most succulent selection of seafood dishes and grilled meats. With tables dotted along the sand sweeping around the bay, and just enough candlelight to ensure you can see your meal without seeing fellow dining guests, the atmosphere is decidedly romantic and intimate. I’m not sure how common shooting star sightings are here, but I saw three during the course of my dinner. Each guests gets one complimentary visit to Alizée every seven days, but just don’t forget to book – as you can imagine, it’s exceedingly popular.
