Review / Review of Constance Lemuria Resort

Francessca Harding

"Lemuria’s newly designed villas and suites are light, bright and airy, and exude a contemporary, boutique-chic vibe."

The Seychelles – an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, known for their turquoise waters, award-winning beaches, fiery sunsets and exceptional marine and jungle biodiversity. When having to choose just one island to escape to feels like an impossible task, let Carrier organise a twin-centre itinerary combining Constance Ephelia on Mahé with Constance Lemuria on Praslin. Our Luxury Travel Expert Francessca Harding shares why this is the perfect way to maximise your luxury escape to the Seychelles.

Slowing Down / the pace

After an action-packed stay at Ephelia, I was keen to slow down the pace at Constance’s other Seychellois offering - Lemuria - which is built into the granitic hillside of Praslin Island. Having undergone an extensive refurbishment in 2016, Lemuria’s newly designed villas and suites are light, bright and airy, and exude a contemporary, boutique-chic vibe. A mixture of wood, stone, pink granite, marble and thatch palm have been used to retain a Seychellois feel that is warm yet modern.

I stayed in a Junior Suite (pictured) just 15 metres from the shore, which featured a really large terrace area and an expansive bathroom with a separate bath and shower. Multi-generational families will adore the Sea View Villas, which sleep up to 4 adults and 2 children and come complete with a private pool and direct access to the beach.

Time for / teeing off

Whether you consider yourself a golfer or not, the exceptionally well-manicured 18 hole championship golf course at Lemuria is quite literally the pièce de résistance and not to be missed; with several panoramic tees (wait until you see the 15th), the course is the perfect location not only to play but also to watch the colours of the sun flare and melt into the ocean as it sets. Make the moment even more magical by organising a golf sundowner with Gary, one of the funniest and most knowledgeable golfing members of the team. Golf lessons are also available with Lemuria’s resident golf professionals should the beauty of the green encourage you to polish up on your swings.

Exploration and / entertainment

Similarly to Ephelia, Lemuria also offers complimentary bicycles. This enabled me to venture out of the resort and onto the island to explore, before returning in the evening for dinner accompanied by a very talented three piece band. They were excellent at engaging us as an audience, and before I knew what was happening, I was up out of my seat and dancing with the other guests dining around me. It was such a pleasure to listen to such gifted musicians as the night drew to a close.

Lemuria / At a glance

Best for:

Lemuria really caters well to both families and couples alike, while keen golfers of any ability will be in their element for the entirety of their stay.

Not to miss:

Each year between October and February, turtles come and lay their eggs upon the Grand Anse Kerlan beach. Guests staying during those months can accompany one of Constance Lemuria's turtle experts to observe them emerging from the ocean.

Give it a go:

With complimentary non-motorised watersports available, try your hand at Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP) on the beautiful ocean, or take a pedal boat out for an afternoon of laid-back exploration.
