The bustling, culture-rich village of Ortisei is characterised by intricate South Tyrolian wood carvings and a warm welcome. The pedestrianised centre offers a fine selection of boutiques, coffee shops, restaurants and historic buildings. The real highlight, however, has to be the surrounding mountain terrain; the spectacularly scenic runs of the Alpe de Siusi ski area are loved by intermediates while more advanced skiers can link over to the famed Sella Ronda ski circuit – a truly breathtaking route against a backdrop of forests, snow fields and jagged tooth-like peaks.
