Right in the heart of historic La Rosière, one of France’s more low-key locales, lies a peaceful home-from-home – where during good snow conditions, skiers only have to glide outside of the hotel doors to begin their ascent to the pistes.
At Hyatt Centric La Rosière, a laid-back ambience and prime location make for an ideal ski-weekend for families and groups of friends whose priority is access to beginner and intermediate skiing. Situated in a region renowned for excellent snow records, it’s away from the usual bustling crowds of big named French ski resorts. Here, every trip is about ease; while getting out onto the slopes is designed to be a simple affair, with the ski lifts, nursery slopes and ski school mere metres away, the hotel also adds homely touches, arranging takeaway picnics for days on the slopes, and fantastic family-friendly excursions.
The more adventurous can ski over the nearby border into Italy to try their hand at heliskiing, an activity forbidden in France, while those less experienced can go off-piste with a guide to master the gentler gradients.
Back at the hotel, each room is extremely spacious, with a generous helping privy to breathtaking views across the valley towards Les Arcs. La Rosière night times are particularly special – make sure to look out over the valley to soak in the twinkling lights of distant Tignes.

Throughout the hotel, an elegant elephant motif subtly adorns décor – paying homage to local legend which says that it was via the village of La Rosière that the much-lauded military commander, Hannibal, crossed into France with his herd of 40 elephants in 218 BC.
