Holiday Type / Life of Pi

Yann Martel's book The Life of Pi, which was published in 2001, won the Booker prize the following year and became a bestseller, was widely considered to be impossible to film. However, Ang Lee's visual adaptation of Piscine Patel's months at sea, with only a tiger named Richard Parker for company is already being tipped for Oscar nominations. Filmed mainly in India, Life of Pi blends religion and zoology with an unexpected relationship and bond between a teenage boy and a Bengal tiger. Due to be released in the UK on 20 December 2012, this film is not only set to inspire interest in India but also for the beautifully enthralling and powerful Bengal tigers. On our Ultimate Tiger Trail India itinerary you can discover for yourself why these amazing endangered species, have become such a large part of Indian tradition and lore.
