This journey is made for art lovers, taking you to nine superlative ports across Italy, Croatia, Montenegro and Greece aboard Regent Seven Seas Voyager.
Begin in Venice; the City of Canals never fails to impress with ancient streets, beautiful palazzos, vast town squares and exquisite architecture aplenty. Those in search of historic art and culture will be equally drawn to Ravenna, revered for the Byzantine mosaics which adorn the 5th and 6th-century basilicas and mausoleums.
Next, head to the Adriatic Coast to explore Split’s majestic cathedral and marble streets. For the best views of Old Town in Dubrovnik, it’s worth climbing the stairs and walking the one mile circuit atop the city walls, whilst the World Heritage Site of Kotor, where much of the architecture has a distinctive Venetian flair, is not to be missed.
Journeying south, Corfu is one of the greenest islands in Greece and well-known for its stretches of wild coast. Pebble beach Barbati is popular for water sports, and a short 30-minute drive away, Glyfada beach is ideal for sun, golden sands and clear waters.
The picturesque town of Taormina in Sicily overlooks Mount Etna and was once home to a gathering of expatriate artists, poets and writers. Highlights here include the remarkably preserved Roman-style Greek Theatre and the ruins of small imperial age theatre Odeon. Returning to Italy, ride the renowned cliff-side scenic path along the Amalfi Coast for breathtaking views of the Italian Riviera, and end with the historical and architectural glory that is Rome.
