Begin in Yangon with its bustling markets and gleaming Shwedagon Pagoda before moving onto Bagan beside the mighty Ayeyarwady River; with more than three thousand pagodas rising from the sun-baked plains it is a truly awe-inspiring setting. Relax onboard the country’s most luxurious cruise ship, observing wonderful scenery and daily life on its banks. Lectures on local places and customs are provided, with the cruise ending in Mandalay, centre of Burmese culture and Buddhist learning. Take in Inle Lake, known for its calm beauty, colourful festivals and ancient traditions before journeys end back in Yangon with the opportunity for last minute shopping and bartering for souvenirs.

On arrival in Bangkok, connect with the short flight to Yangon. Private transfer to The Governor’s Residence for a two night stay, with the remainder of the day at leisure. (B)

Sightseeing around Yangon

Sightseeing around Yangon

Discover the main sights of Yangon with your private guide, taking in its colonial buildings, the reclining Buddha and the spectacular Shwedagon Pagoda. (B)

Day /4

Fly to Bagan

Fly to Bagan

Take a morning flight to Bagan where you will board the Road to Mandalay for a four night cruise. After lunch, visit the inside of some of the most significant pagodas with a guide before watching the sun set across the plains. Return to the ship for dinner. (FB)

Day /5-7

Sail on towards Mandalay

Sail on towards Mandalay

Following further exploration of Bagan, set sail towards Mandalay, relaxing on the top deck as river life glides by. Visit local villages and take a guided tour of Mandalay, before cruising to Mingun, home to the world’s largest uncracked bell. Also included is a visit to the Sagaing Hills, with its array of beautiful pagodas and thriving community of Buddhist monks and nuns. (FB)

Disembark in Mandalay

Disembark in Mandalay where you will be met and transferred to the Mandalay Hill Resort for an overnight stay. (B)

Fly to Heho

Fly to Heho and take the scenic road journey to Inle Lake for a three night stay at Inle Princess Resort, your base for three nights. The following two days will introduce the highlights and traditions of the magical lake from leg-rowers to waterbound temples, village life and magnificent scenery. (B,L)

Return to London

Return to the airport for your flight to Yangon where a day room is provided at The Strand along with a driver and guide at your disposal. Depart this evening for Bangkok, to connect with your flight to London Heathrow.
