Arrive in Seattle and explore the varied sights and sounds of this gloriously eclectic city. The vibrant cultural epicenter of Pike Place Market, Chinatown, Pioneer Square, and the Space Needle observation deck and restaurant can be visited at leisure. Overnight in Seattle.

Seattle to Vancouver

A coach transfer arrives at King Street Station for boarding the Rocky Mountaineer to mark the beginning of an enthralling train adventure. Dinner is enjoyed onboard while travelling past the Chittenden Locks linking Puget Sound to Lakes Union and Washington. Take in a series of highlights ranging from sublime sunset views of Bellingham Bay and the San Juan Islands, and the fascinating community of White Rock over the Canadian border before arrival into Vancouver. Overnight stay in Vancouver after coach transfer to hotel.

Step back on the Rock Mountaineer as the coastal leanings of Vancouver are swapped for British Columbia's scenic interior. The verdant fields of Fraser Valley, forests and snaking river canyons backed by the looming peaks of the Coast and Cascade Mountains showcase an endlessly diverse landscape. Highlights along the way include Hell's Gate in the cavernous Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes witnessed along the Thompson River interspersed by rock sheds. The day concludes with a calming journey along the banks of Kamloops Lake. Overnight stay in Kamloops.

Kamloops to Banff

The inspiring journey through the dramatic West Canadian landscape continues eastwards towards the towering peaks of the Canadian Rockies. Ever-changing vistas represent a continuation of a theme, with dramatic mountain passes and tunnels harking back to the region's rail history visible in the same breath as ranchlands and rocky lakeshores. Climbs over Rogers Pass, Kicking Horse Canyon, the Spiral Tunnels, and a smattering of glaciers and snow-tinged peaks rank high on a list of many highlights.
