News / Introducing: India, Far East & Australasia 2018/19

The world really is your oyster – from exciting new openings to fresh renovations, we reveal all you need to know to make the most of India, the Far East & Australasia in the coming year.

What’s new for 2018/19

Adventure meets creature comfort at Wild Coast Tented Lodge in Sri Lanka. Opened in October 2017, this luxury tented camp is a game changer for experiential travel to the south of Sri Lanka. Located next to Yala National Park, famed for its leopards and elephants, tents are cocoon-shaped with copper bath tubs and some have private pools.

Pioneers of the first truly mobile luxury camps in India, The Ultimate Travelling Camp (TUTC ) introduces the discerning traveller to unique adventures in some of India’s remotest areas. Based on the days of the Raj – when residents headed for the Himalayas during the hot summers of India to escape the heat – these luxury mobile tented camps allow travellers to stay in complete luxury in some of the country’s furthest flung corners.  Expect to experience dramatic landscapes, local festivals and cultural events that would otherwise remain undiscovered.

Set to open in the spring of 2018 is Capella Ubud. This unusual resort will offer tented accommodation in the heart of Bali’s rainforest, with an authentic, back to nature experience for the romantic adventurer. With the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary,  a nature reserve and a Hindu temple complex nearby, guests will have plenty to explore.

Best for…

Gourmet enthusiasts will be in culinary heaven at Six Senses Yao Noi. The Dining Room offers fine dining with Organic European Cuisine and features a glass floor with a creek meandering beneath, while the Living Room presents world cuisine, with an emphasis on Thai, as well as tandoori and pizza ovens and an open grill. For a more intimate evening, the Chef’s Table caters for just eight guests, while true romantics can take advantage of private in-villa or destination dining.

Couples will adore Song Saa Private Island in Cambodia, whose name aptly translates to ‘the sweethearts’.  Set on a pair of exclusive private islands amidst the sapphire blue Gulf of Thailand, all villas feature private pools, with some sitting high on stilts over the water. Here, standards of luxury are uncompromising and options for destination dining seem endless – choose a private soiree on the beach, alongside the infinity pool, or in a hidden corner of the resort.

Families will never be short of something to do at Four Seasons Resort Langkawi. Children and adults alike can embark on a Mangrove and Eagles Safari through the Kilim Karst Geoforest Park, where up close encounters with eagles, monkeys, otters and walking fish are sure to delight. For those with more energy to burn, a host of outdoor activities from rock climbing and archery to kayaking and kite-flying are also available. And, when parents would like a short reprise, the Kids for All Seasons club for children aged 4-12 will turn the whole Resort into a playground.

#Refreshed Vibes

Raffles Singapore has undergone a soft refurbishment. Enhancements include a brand new lobby lounge and an enriched spa experience. Innovative and modern technology has also been incorporated in to the suites, though the signature colonial architecture has been retained.

The Datai Langkawi is currently closed for a 10 month renovation to redesign all rooms, suites and villas, construct a nature centre, install two new spa pavilions and create a fitness centre by the beach. The property is expected to re-open in summer 2018.

Following a refurbishment of the pool villas and re-model of the Deluxe and Premier villas, guests can enjoy more spacious rooms and larger plunge pools at Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay.

Flying high

Following the introduction of the new direct flight from London Heathrow to Perth with Qantas, we have introduced COMO The Treasury to our portfolio. This contemporary hotel is located in the historic heart of Perth, and has its own COMO Shambhala Urban Escape spa. Qatar Airways has also announced it will launch flights to beautiful Chiang Mai, its fourth destination in Thailand; the new route comes in addition to existing services to the Thai capital Bangkok, and to the top holiday destinations of Phuket and Krabi.
