Amelia Hoyes

Experiencing the captivating ambience of Arabia with a recent trip to Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Amelia Hoyes shares with us her recommendations and highlights from her trip.

One&Only Royal Mirage - Arabian Court

Most suitable for: This is a great hotel for families with small children - the resort has a children's club for ages 4-11 years and The Rotisserie restaurant offers a child friendly environment for all day dining.

What sets it apart: All the rooms at Arabian Court have balconies and are sea facing. I stayed in the Deluxe Room - the view was absolutely breathtaking.

Hotel highlight: My favourite meal was lunch at Eauzone. I had duck spring rolls to start followed by pan-fried sea bass then chocolate and passion fruit mousse with green tea ice cream for dessert.

Hotel exterior

One&Only Royal Mirage - The Palace

Suitable for: Families with younger children will appreciate the children's club for ages 4-11 years and restaurants such as Olives or The Beach Bar and Grill are very informal and relaxed. Celebrities restaurant also caters for children over the age of 8.

What sets it apart: Guests staying in Gold Rooms and Suites can enjoy access to the Gold Club Lounge and receive complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea and beverages.

Hotel highlight: I would recommend a visit to Kasbar - ideal for those who like live music and cocktails.

One&Only Royal Mirage - Residence & Spa

Most suitable for: The resort is renowned for its exclusivity and offers guests the utmost seclusion - ideal for couples who want romance and privacy.

What sets it apart: The complex is close to the main shopping areas in Dubai.

Hotel highlight: Residence & Spa is incredibly lavish - all rooms have a personal host and guests from Arabian Court and The Palace are not able to use the Residence & Spa facilities.

Oriental hammam pool

One&Only The Palm

Most suitable for: Couples wanting the ultimate luxury escape. Everything about the hotel is chic and sophisticated.

What sets it apart: This hotel is one of the only boutique hotels in Dubai.

Hotel highlight: The service at this hotel was exceptional - the standard is definitely one of the highest in Dubai.

Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach

Most suitable for: This property is ideal for families wanting spacious rooms and plenty of activities.

What sets it apart: The hotel is close to the city and next to the beach, allowing guests to explore the hustle and bustle of Dubai, as well as relaxing by the sea.

Hotel highlight: The Pearl Spa at this resort is exceptional. For complete indulgence I would recommend the Detox and Renew treatment which includes a body scrub, seaweed wrap, massage and facial.

Kids pool
Coral Room

Emirates Palace

Most suitable for: Couples seeking lavish accommodation and first class service.

What sets it apart: The hotel's décor is absolutely magnificent. The rooms are incredibly spacious with gold furnishings and feature the latest technology, including iPads that dim the lights and open the curtains.

Hotel highlight: My favourite meal was at Sayad Restaurant. We ate in a private dining room and were served a selection of the best dishes on the menu including seafood ceviche and lobster soup.

Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel and Villas

Most suitable for: The hotel is great for families as many of the rooms interconnect and the location is excellent. Yas Island is easily accessible and Dubai is close enough to visit for the day.

What sets it apart: The hotel is the biggest Park Hyatt in the world - the décor and layout is incredibly contemporary.

Hotel highlight: Guests can receive special rates for the nearby golf course.

Turquoiz restaurant

The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi

Most suitable for: Families will love this hotel - The Sandcastle Club takes children from 1-12 years and the restaurant Turquoiz is great for older children.

What sets it apart: There are so many activities at this resort - Saadiyat Beach Golf Club is next door, the beach is fantastic and there is a great children's pool with a cave and water slide.

Hotel highlight: The Vietnamese restaurant, Sontaya offers authentic cuisine with a wonderful atmosphere. We sampled an array of starters including spring rolls and prawns, followed by Thai green curry and coconut ice cream for dessert.
