Why settle for ordinary when you can have extraordinary? Here are just a handful of once-in-a-lifetime experiences that we have organised for our clients
There’s nowhere better to spend Christmas than in Lapland. We arranged the most magical two day getaway for a sports personality and his young family. A Christmas invitation was hand delivered to the family home by an elf before they flew to Finland aboard a private jet. An elf welcomed them on arrival and accompanied them throughout the trip. The first morning involved choosing a Christmas tree from the nearby forest and decorating it back at the chalet. The outdoor adventures we arranged included snowmobiling, ice fishing, a husky safari and igloo building. Day two involved a fairy-tale walk in the forest, a visit to Elf School and a reindeer escort to the Christmas Command Centre to meet Father Christmas himself, followed by dinner in a traditional Finnish tepee. A private photographer was on hand throughout the trip to capture the special memories.
Extend a stay in Finnish Lapland to go hunting for the Northern Lights. Chase the aurora on a nocturnal adventure by reindeer-led sleigh for a glimpse of the dancing colours. We recommend the warmth and comfort of a glass igloo, where guests can gaze through their glass roof for a possible grandstand view of this spectacular phenomenon.
A family of eight including two nannies booked a four night pre-Christmas break in New York City. All flying First Class, the group stayed in the Three-Bedroom Royal Suite at the Four Seasons Hotel New York – located on the 32nd floor, the suite offers panoramic views of the city and Central Park. The parents wanted the children to have a Home Alone-style experience; Carrier arranged for child-size robes, the Home Alone DVD, their favourite toys and board games and milk and cookies ready for their arrival. The family’s Christmas in New York was topped off with a visit to Rockefeller Center, with the most festive events, shopping and the tastiest dining treats.
There is so much to see and experience in the city as a family. From the zoo, riding the carousel and a horse-drawn carriage ride in Central Park, to a stop at the legendary FAO Schwarz for a run on the famed Big Piano. Back at the hotel, we can arrange a visit from the Candy Man, who will stop by the room with Dylan’s Candy Bar Cart.
A client booked a trip to Europe to celebrate his 60th birthday with a group of his closest friends. The ten couples stayed at the Belmond Hotel Cipriani in Venice and The Augustine in Prague. We arranged all the details from cocktail receptions on the waterfront terraces and private dinners each night. As a surprise for his guests, we organised the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express from Venice to Prague. Carrier prepared two itineraries – the real one, for our client and a dummy one for him to pass on to his friends, which detailed only that there would be a black-tie event (so that they packed the correct attire for the train). They were only made aware of the full plans when they were whisked away to board the splendid Wagon-lits at Venice Santa Lucia Station.
Always alive with festivals and events, a highlight to time your visit with is the Venice Film Festival in August/September. Carrier can arrange private after hours excursions at key landmarks such as walking tours of the secret chambers at the Doge’s Palace. Guests can also opt to continue their journey aboard the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express to London via Paris.
