The Grenadines

This group of island characters is united by one special family secret; that stepping into the cosseted household of St Vincent and The Grenadines makes everything blissfully stress free.

This group of island characters is united by one special family secret; that stepping into the cosseted household of St Vincent and The Grenadines makes everything blissfully stress free.

Bringing an eclectic mix of personalities that’re sure to keep their visitors guessing, this island lineage is tantalisingly reclusive for all the right reasons. Starting with glamorous big sister Mustique (who’s always a part of the in-crowd), the exclusive types get the chance to brush off all expectations; swapping lashings of sequins for a mix of white tees and sugary sands. While the only rule that’s implemented by her nomadic uncle – St Vincent – is the joys of a no-phones-zone and pure escapism.

Meanwhile, Canouan (the ever-competitive father) insists on spending time golfing, soaking in the luscious greens that seamlessly blend into turquoise waters. And because it wouldn’t be a family without a bit of tradition, grandmother Bequia creates the ultimate fishing village ‘step back in time’ to the good old Caribbean days.

In pursuit of…

The sandy beach at Bequia Beach Hotel
… effortlessly island hopping the days away

With each stop celebrating the maxim ‘come as you are’, there isn’t even a need to pick between which one to visit. Sailing via yacht or catamaran over seas so clear they’re almost deceptively non-existent, there’s nearly a temptation to never venture off deck. That is, until quirky Bequia comes into sight with days spent basking on the beach to the taste of freshly caught mahi mahi, and St Vincent brings the promise of sublime picnics on a sandbar. Sundowners on the eighteenth hole at Canouan are simply always calling; but it’s Mustique’s Basil’s Bar that brings the unexpected surprise of brushing shoulders with the famous. Because here, being politely unheeded makes the dancefloor extra special.

    Anguilla

Clapboard barbecue beach shacks and an air of welcome idleness attract visitors from all walks of life to this Caribbean favourite, but it’s the deliciously straightforward ease of living that keeps them coming back for more.
