At the heart of the property is a cosy lounge with roaring fire and dining room, the seven cottages and two suites being discretely situated in the folds of the hills. A veranda makes the most of the dramatic views, whilst interiors feature a spacious bathroom and a living room with fireplace. Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is conveniently located for gorilla tracking expeditions which leave from the nearby headquarters of the Volcanoes National Park, only ten minutes away.

One of the most poignant experiences that Africa has to offer, small groups are guided up slippery trails into the mighty Virungas to observe a habituated gorilla family at close quarters. Golden monkeys are regularly sighted; excursions include vibrant village markets and the Dian Fossey Centre.
