INTERMEDIATES – FAMILIES - NON-SKIERS

Nestled in a south facing position overlooking the Rhône Valley, hidden gem Crans-Montana is the new place to be; known for its wonderous red runs, long leisurely lunches and sunny outlook.

Enveloped in woodland only a mile apart, chic boutiques and snowy pastimes aren’t in short supply in the two hubs of Crans and Montana. There’s plenty to occupy, but whether you’ve just been out and about or sheltering within the 3D cinema or American bowling alley, stomachs are satisfied with plenty of restaurants both on and off the slopes. Traditional mountain huts serve heart-warming rösti, raclette and steaming mugs of hot chocolate while après-ski venues can be found at the foot of the slopes.

The resort level Snow Island entertains children with snow tubing, sledging, a play area and entertainment while winter events and festivals include a forest lantern trail, the Caprices Festival of electronic dance music and in 2027, the high-profile FIS Alpine World Ski Championships.

The skiing

Regarded as one of Switzerland’s best kept secrets, Crans-Montana offers inspiring views of the distant Matterhorn and its surrounding mountains alongside delightful skiing. While the resort will tempt the pros as the host for the Alpine World Ski Championships in 2027, hugely enjoyable long red runs, largely south facing sunny slopes and spectacular views make it a winner for intermediates. The modern and well-designed lift system means that queues are generally short, providing trouble-free access to the large and varied piste area including the snow-sure Plaine Morte glacier. Gentle nursery slopes for beginners are complemented by a Snow Island for families with button lifts and a magic carpet.
