Four different resorts showcase four contrasting natural landscapes, taking in the mountains, desert, ocean and the pristine sands along the Gulf of Oman's coastline.
This adventure begins in the bustling city of Muscat before heading deep into the desert to spend a night under the stars, counting constellations in the clear sky.
Next, head high up in the mysterious and magnificent Hajar Mountains. Close to your base is the village of Nizwa, the old capital of Oman, where traditional Arabian architecture provides the backdrop to bustling souks. The drive back to Muscat takes in traditional villages and wild wadis in the ever changing natural landscape; before ending the trip exploring the waters and its marine life off the city’s coast.

Day 1 - 2
Muscat
Stay at: The Chedi MuscatWith the modern developments concentrated to the outskirts, Muscat lets its centre – a result of three fishing villages melded together – do the talking. Stalls glitter with bright yellow gold and the spicy scents of cardamom, frankincense and turmeric and tall pale exteriors house the brilliance of the Royal Opera House and Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque.

Day 4 - 6
Hajar Mountains
Stay at: Alila Jabal AkhdarPunctured by wadis, marred by primordial petroglyphs, the vertical nature of the Hajar Mountains isn’t the only characteristic defying the typical lifeless desert aesthetic. Life finds a way here, from the birth of beautiful pink blooms each year to gullies roamed by wildlife the likes of Arabian leopards, gazelles and mountain goats.

Day 7 - 11
Return to Muscat
Stay at: Shangri-La Al Husn Resort & SpaGround yourself and indulge once more in Muscat; in its history, culture, and marine life. At sea: snorkelling, dolphin spotting and islet touring in the uninhabited Daymaniyat Islands await. On land: discover the ornate Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and Royal Opera House. Despite the clamour of the city, we've spent the first two days are easing in gently. Yesterday, we chilling by the pool and in the spa to rejuvenate after our flight before heading out for a private evening tour of Muscat. We headed to one of the oldest markets in Oman, the Muttrah Souks, the Bait Al Zubair museum with its fine collection of traditional costumes, jewellery and weapons, and stopped offs outside the Al Alam Palace and Mirani and Jalali forts.

We traded in the city for dramatic dunes today and enjoyed complete seclusion during tonight at Wahiba Desert Sands Camp. After a camel ride to the gloriously private spot, we sipped on tea as we waited for our private chef to cook up a storm. The absolute silence and hypnotising hues of sunset in the desert were amazing.

Yesterday we stopped off at the Ibra women’s market, Birkat Al Mouz village and Jebel Akhdar (of rose growing fame) en route to the iconic Omani mountains. There's all sorts to do here, from rock climbing on Oman's highest via ferrata, wandering the magical butterfly trail, hiking and star gazing. Tomorrow, we're spending the day experiencing local life by visiting the markets in Nizwa – Oman’s former capital – and its 17th-century fort.

To round off the trip, we're heading back to the edge of Muscat where time is mainly spent on the water. We're going out on a boat trip to spot some playful dolphins before jumping in at a snorkelling spot. We also can't wait to tour the Daymaniyat Islands – nine uninhabited islets that make up a natural preserve that is home to turtles!
