Luxury touring holidays in Arabia & the Indian Ocean

  • A person stands on top of a sand dune in a desert with footprints leading up to the peak under a clear blue sky.

The powerhouse of dynamism meets enchanting atolls of escapism.

The powerhouse of dynamism meets enchanting atolls of escapism.

Searing Martian deserts and visionary futuristic cities, all with an underlying pulse of Arab tradition. You'd be hard pressed to find anywhere else on Earth that brings the same level of exquisitely clashing landscapes straight out of a sci-fi novel than cutting-edge Arabia.

This corner of the world seemingly never sleeps, from the urban metropolises that line the coastline of the United Arab Emirates’ side of the Persian Gulf to the ever-shifting apricot sands of Oman. Exploring these lands comes in many a guise, but one thing is for sure, it’s the daredevils and heritage hunters that thrive most here.

Past where the Arabian Sea becomes the wider ocean, expanses of glittery bath-warm waters surround the comforting soft sands of the Maldives and the Seychelles – aka the quintessential holiday ideal. The antidote to Arabia’s antics, leisurely explorations of nature and never lifting a finger reign.

Arabia and the Indian Ocean
always bring the glamour

    • A tall, golden rectangular structure with intricate circular patterns, known as the Dubai Frame, stands against a clear blue sky, offering panoramic views of the city for families exploring modern landmarks.
      United Arab Emirates

      Skylines of iconic proportions

Sitting along the coastline of two neighbouring Emirates are a pair of cities pretty much everyone has heard of. An urban pioneer of futuristic proportions, Dubai’s first impression shows ambition and unabashed indulgence; requiring a dive-right-in approach to the city that aims to be a cut above the rest. Further along looms Abu Dhabi, a contemporary capital with a strong connection to the past. Comprised of several islands (a fact not many know), the city is divided into districts dedicated to particular interests, including the culture hub on Saadian Island, Sir Bani Yas Island with its wildlife park and the thrill-a-minute Yas Island.

    • A couple holding hands walks on sand dunes at sunset in a vast desert landscape, with camels seen in the background.
      Oman

      The desert is calling

Practically a hop, skip and jump from the Emirates, waves of apricot sand beckon from across the border in Oman – here, the mountains, dunes and sea collide. In an area of exhibitionism, this country takes a step back to let its heritage and extraterrestrial scenery take centre stage, so breaking out of the hotel shell is a must here. Annual festivals celebrate art, Jebel Akhdar puts on its world-renowned display of blooming roses, and the world’s most expensive perfumery and Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque tell the tales of life both past and present.

    • A tropical Maldivian beach at sunset with palm trees along the shore and calm ocean waters reflecting the colorful sky.
      Maldives

      Idyllic isles

Unrivalled bliss. Those are the two words that spring to mind when thinking of the Maldives. Every direction conjures the delightful dilemma of capturing the scene on camera or letting the eyes keep it to themselves. Expect an air of carefree living with most islands adopting a ‘no news, no shoes’ rule, inviting guests to tune out the outside world and flex their toes on the soft sand. Think leaf-hidden cabanas, intimate torchlit banquets and taking over a private islet for a sleepover under the stars. This is why the solitude seeking duos flock here for privacy.

    • Aerial view of a tropical Seychelles beach with turquoise water, granite boulders, and lush green palm trees.
      Seychelles

      An eco-epicentre

Where Flintstone-like boulders flow down from volcanic hills and flawless atolls sit alongside busy island towns, the Seychelles’ prehistoric purity refuses to be eclipsed by the clamour of modern life. This area of the planet is so unspoilt that only a few of the islets offer a resort to rest carefree heads, keeping Mother Nature securely on her throne. The first country in the world to include conservation efforts in its constitution, locals work tirelessly on restoring the ecological balance, inviting keen guests to take a break from their sunbathing to do the same.

Arabia
Linger a little longer

It’s worth more than just a whistle stop tour

The stopover – it’s the ultimate travel hack. Not only to break up a long journey but to get a double deal of cultures and experiences from two different destinations and nowhere has a more exquisite blend than Arabia.

Perfectly positioned to be in the centre of many flight routes, and with airports never too far away from the action, this multifaceted region provides delightful contrasts to any trip. A beachy fly-and-flop is offset with adventures into Oman’s desert for dune bashing and a falconry demonstration, or Abu Dhabi provides a slice of heritage with its mosques and museums. Shopping and dining in Dubai’s glitzy downtown or afternoon tea at the Burj Al Arab before unwinding at its sleek beach club perfectly juxtaposes a week on an Asian safari. And an antidote to a lively city break is found on the coasts of Doha and Ras Al Khaimah with their blissful beaches and plethora of water sports.

Whether it’s an exhilarating start or a relaxing end to a trip, when it comes to this corner of the world, there’s reward in not reaching the finish line just yet.
