Cape Town - Greater Kruger

A charming twosome from the interiors masterminds at The Royal Portfolio, this former grain store and converted family holiday home are now as iconic as Table Mountain itself.

One of South Africa’s defining features is its patchwork of landscapes, and with properties in every facet, The Royal Portfolio’s collection delivers on ‘the spice of life’. The hero hotspots, however, have to be vibrant Cape Town and the wildlife-loaded national parks. In a prime position on the V&A Waterfront, The Silo Hotel’s statement windows look out onto sweeping views of the city. Below, there’s a contemporary art museum to explore, while tours of the Cape Peninsula showcase the best of further afield.

Up near the Mozambique border, homely comforts have been brought to the savannah at Royal Malewane. The suites and villas are strewn across the wilderness near Kruger National Park, balancing untamed nature with eclectic décor synonymous with the brand and creature comforts like butler service and private infinity pools. The indulgence continues on safaris helmed by private guides and trackers, and spa treatments crafted from local ingredients.

A taste of
what's to come

    • Classic black Shelby Cobra sports car with white racing stripes and red interior parked on a sunny road.
Discover the Cape behind the wheel of a Cobra convertible

With so much to see, it’s best to take to the road. On a scenic drive along the Cape Peninsula, stop off at Boulders Beach to spy the protected African penguins, weave around the cliff road that carves up Chapman’s Peak, and see if you can spot all of the Cape 5 – ostrich, baboons, mountain zebra, bontebok and tortoise.

    • Architectural interior of Zeitz MOCAA museum in Cape Town featuring sculpted concrete atrium with circular skylights.
Spend some time in the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa

Sitting right below The Silo Hotel, this space celebrates contemporary African artists both near and far, and is the largest museum in the world to do so. It’s full of over 100 galleries that house both visiting and permanent exhibitions but, being part of the old grain silo, its architecture is like an exhibit in itself.

    • African safari game drive at Royal Malewane with guests observing a wild elephant in its natural habitat.
Challenge yourself to finding the Big 5 on safari

Climb aboard a personal jeep for a safari within a private reserve in Greater Kruger at your own pace. With a dedicated guide and tracker on hand to help seek out the wildlife and impart their vast and varied knowledge, there’s no better place to begin when looking for the favourites.

    • Christo Brand shaking hands with Nelson Mandala who is sat down
A dinner, helicopter ride or Robben Island tour with Nelson Mandela’s personal guard-turned-friend- Christo Brand

Defying all odds, Christo Brand and Nelson Mandela became close friends during Mandela’s imprisonment on Robben Island. Hear stories about the former South African President; take your pick between a formal dinner, a helicopter ride offering a bird’s eye view of Robben Island, or a more sure-footed tour on the ground.
