A Vietnamese design duo

  • Lanterns in Hoi An city, Vietnam
Hanoi - Danang

By choice or chance, the theatrical interior designs of architect Bill Bensely draw a close connection between city and coastline in Vietnam, for an extended stay steeped in extravagance.

Hanoi - Danang

By choice or chance, the theatrical interior designs of architect Bill Bensely draw a close connection between city and coastline in Vietnam, for an extended stay steeped in extravagance.

Uniting north and central Vietnam with a strong sense of character, this bold design pairing begins in the bustling capital at Capella Hanoi, before retreating to the coastal calm of the bay at InterContinental Danang. Inspired by the country’s operatic past, a stay at the former turns back time to the roaring twenties, bringing historic heritage to life in artful interiors. Grand yet by no means overbearing in their maximalism, suites envision individual librettos, while the Diva’s Lounge and Backstage restaurant set the stage for signature drinks and dining.

As the second act of this duo moves away from city life, the welcoming balance of a seaside sanctuary beckons. Cushioned by the verdant greens of the jungle, villas bask in vistas of beautifully endless blue, their sheer spaciousness a personal oasis that we can’t pretend is necessary to leave. Exploring the resort reveals the spirituality at its heart, soothing through slow days sustained by Michelin-starred dining. And from the suites to the highest reaches of the resort (where you’ll find the Sky Level gallery), a signature Bensley design harks back to Hanoi, tying together an experience of established-meets-up-and-coming opposites on your venture through Vietnam.

A taste of
what's to come

    • Asia, Vietnam, ceramics at Bat Trang Ceramics Village
Embrace the ancient art of ceramics

Admiring an artform continuing to stand the test of time, a visit to Bat Trang ceramics village rewinds time to the 14th century origins of this detailed craft. Contemporary techniques now join traditional practices to create unique porcelain artworks, one of which you’ll add your own artistic flair to, painting a Capella plate to take home as a souvenir.

    • Lanterns and colorful lights on river in Hoi An, Vietnam
Tour the lantern-lit streets of Hoi An Town

Taking a day trip to Asia’s leading cultural city should be top of the list for a stay in Danang. Moving ever so slightly south along the coastline, Hoi An lies close by, its port-town roots a melting pot of international influences. Architectural styles sitting side by side make for an intriguing stroll through the old town, and a varied cuisine scene makes dining a particular highlight here.

    • Drone view basketboat tours in Bay Mau nipa palm forest - Hoi An, Quang Nanm Da Nang province, central Vietnam
      Captain a traditional basket boat

Vietnamese shores wouldn’t quite be complete without a scattering of iconic basket boats. First crafted from bamboo as fishing boats that float with the waves, these symbols of independence are quite the challenge to steer. Now a feature of many facets of Vietnamese life, try your hand at steering them away from the sands, mastering the art of not spinning in circles.

Twin your stays in
Hanoi & Danang

Capella Hanoi

Reigniting a Roaring Twenties spectacle for the modern age, the golden years of Vietnamese Opera are far from their curtain call; guests from across the globe find drama in every detail at Capella Hanoi.

InterContinental Danang

A tranquil bay enveloped in the vibrant greens of the jungle, InterContinental Danang climbs the hillside of the Son Tra Peninsula nature reserve, its Michelin-starred dining adding to an already ideal recipe for rest and relaxation.
