Flying over this islet, it looks like any other Maldivian paradise; but from the daily adventures to what happens beneath the villa gables, this is island living on your own terms.
It may be one of the Maldives’ smallest resorts, but .Here makes a big impact. Its aim to be ‘a place where you can be Somewhere and Nowhere all at once’ is an intriguing one, but the clue is in the capitals – the resort is split across two islets with those names.
Part of the Finolhu Resort family, the pair sits at the end of the largest sandbank in the region and have adopted Finolhu’s playful side – from colourful interiors to the plethora of water sports. Service is still taken seriously though, it’s hyper-personalised thanks to dedicated staff, butlers and private chefs who tailor-make menus.
A little note...
While they may look beautiful, these images are artist impressions. The real thing will be with us soon.
Set within the UNESCO Baa Atoll, Somewhere is the traditional Maldivian resort in miniature. Just seven two-storey villas share a restaurant suspended overwater, a water sports centre and a communal pavilion that marries traditional Dhoni-inspired design with fun modern interiors.
Over on Nowhere, things get even more intimate. Intended as a private buyout experience, it’s so well-catered that it’s all too easy to get lost in a bubble of solitude. Though should curiosity win and the urge to venture out hit, Finolhu’s facilities are but a boat ride away from either islet.
‘Exclusive’ can mean many different things, but on Somewhere, it means getting to experience accommodation never before seen in the area. Answering the call for the best of both worlds, the island’s villas are unique in that each one straddles both beach and lagoon. Wander to one side and there are pockets of lush vegetation and vast sands to explore; head down to the private jetty (each villa has one) and adventures out to sea await. It’s to each their own, but if you can’t decide which way to go first, the 45-metre wrap-around sky pools do a good job of creating a happy medium.
Days at .Here vary like the tide, from ocean-born thrills to moments of peaceful respite. Being in the breathtaking Baa Atoll, water sports aren’t in short supply, and PADI-certified dive instructors come straight to the villas, meaning guests can explore the underwater world around the resort and beyond straight from their jetty. Later, as the sun dips, the bar makes for the perfect place to unwind before being taken off to dine at a private spot under the stars.
A place to rejuvenate both mind and body, the Fenhi Spa on Nowhere is the islet’s jewel in the crown. Treatments are of course personalised, combining age-old practices with state-of-the-art tech, and a yoga chamber makes for a tranquil place to greet the day. The spa itself is reserved for Nowhere guests only, but those on Somewhere don’t miss out – they’re able to have the same treatments in the privacy of their villas.
