We've touched down in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi. The skyscrapers tower over the national park plains. We had a short rest at the hotel before a packed afternoon visiting to the Giraffe Centre, Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and Karen Blixen Museum.

What an amazing start to this adventure in Amboseli National Park with Mount Kilimanjaro as our backdrop! We set out as dawn broke this morning with our cameras in hand on an early game drive, (the animals are at their most active then). We saw the lions return from their night of hunting and sat down to enjoy our own breakfast in the bush!

After a morning game drive, we headed out Loisaba Conservancy, Laikipia. It's home to some rare endangered species (wild dog packs are now ticked off the bucket list). They take their cutting-edge conservation very seriously here. We visited the headquarters to see the anti-poaching work first hand and found out how – along with some very clever sniffer dogs – they safeguard the wildlife.

The Maasai Mara is exactly the Africa we imagined; fauna-filled and reems of grasslands for miles where herds of zebra and wildebeest cross the river beneath the verandas. Today's four-wheeld-drive ventured far out in search of plodding elephants and lions on the hunt, and we were invited to the homes of the Maasai communities. They taught us their rituals and showed the kids children the ways of a Maasai warrior. What an amazing end to our trip!
