Antigua

Set on a backdrop of rolling hills and lush tropical rainforest, this privately owned enclave has firmly solidified its spot in the category of beachfront excellence.

The reasons are obvious from the start. Firstly, there’s the royal welcome, as guests are lead over a pond teeming with fish to an airy vaulted lobby. Then, there are the spacious suites; cool and calm with a sitting area or bedroom that faces the sea, and private terraces or balconies. The cherry on top though is the beautiful curve of beach the hotel calls home, where each end is naturally dedicated either to couples or families depending on where in the hotel you’re staying.

Aesthetics aside, it’s how time here is spent that has solidified Carlise Bay’s loyal following. With Antigua proudly hosting two of the most significant boating events in the world each year, sailing courses for all levels and private charters are a firm favourite here. But with its secluded locale, relaxing spa breaks come easy too – especially when there’s a top-tier kids’ club to preoccupy otherwise restless little ones. Then when it’s time to refuel, the choices don’t disappoint. Restaurants Indigo on the Beach and adults-only The Jetty Grill tempt with fresh seafood and an ocean breeze, leaving space for the vibrant surroundings of East to excite with its pan-Asian cuisine. While Italian fare at the poolside OTTIMO! caters to both more sophisticated and younger palates.
