With its toes in the sand of the island’s trendiest beach, most would assume the place to find Myconain O’s beau monde would be in the centre of things, clinking glasses with their sun lounger neighbours by the water’s edge. And they wouldn’t be wrong. But when the revellers en masse become tiresome, it takes mere strides to achieve the same party pad vibe in the hotel’s more intimate, high walled setting. The pool is the place to haunt, where the DJ spins lo-fi melodies during lazy cocktail-soaked afternoons. All before it transforms into a glowing twilight terrace that serves works of art in the form of fresh Mediterranean cuisine. 

The whole concept here is based on the circle of life, even down to its name. So, O knows how to round off the party and set the tone to unwind. Deep, sensual and a little bit gothic, it feels like the designers took the archetypal Greek uniform of airy whites and rattans and inverted it. Lashings of black and granite (alongside retro vinyl players and quirky yellow dial phones) update the look to an Instagrammer’s sultry dreamland. The atmospheric moodiness crescendos in the spa. Here, dimmed lighting and a pool built into the rock amplify a feeling of being in an ethereal Greek grotto.
