Antigua / Curtain Bluff

In a plum position on a headland with a fabulous beach on either side, this sought-after all-inclusive is on a mission to keep you in a state of utmost relaxation. It more than delivers.

Charming, unfussy, understated. These are the descriptors used by Curtain Bluff’s most loyal guests and friends. It’s a place of reunions; where its thoughtful approach and wealth of inclusive activities matches the just-like-home sensibility and keeps people coming back. On the site of a restored sugar mill, this iconic property offers the best of both worlds when it comes to fun in and on the water, with a calm bathing and water sports beach to one side, and wilder, more elemental sands with hammocks to the other. On the bluff, instead of TV screens in every room, wicker and rattan furniture point out to the Atlantic, making sure you drift away to the soft rush of waves each night.

Here, community trumps solitary indulgences. The hotel’s Old Road Fund was set up by the Hulford family in 1974 to support the village that sits just outside of the resort. Starting out with tennis tuition and impromptu school lessons, the fund has grown to include community projects like university scholarships, medical relief and sports development.

Travel notes:

  • 68 rooms and suites; 4 Hulford Collection signature suites
  • All-inclusive hotel includes fine dining with a menu that changes nightly, and premium activities such as scuba diving and snorkelling
  • Tennis centre with a host of dedicated tennis weeks
  • Oceanfront spa with infinity pool and herb garden
  • Tastings with a French-trained sommelier inside one of the Caribbean’s finest private wine cellars
