Built to harmonise with its serene surroundings the lodge comprises comfortable suites with the look of simple sanctuaries, formed from rammed-earth and set in a tranquil orange grove. Close by lies a courtyard which makes a picturesque spot to enjoy breakfast. In a separate building a spa offers local herb treatments and comes complete with steam room and tea pavilion. In the dining room dishes range from Western and Indian to traditional Bhutanese, while private dining experiences can be arranged both inside and outside the lodge. The nearby Punakha Dzong has a distinctly mystical air.
Bhutan can be visited year-round, although the most pleasant weather occurs from March to May and from October to November. The winter months between December and February are particularly magical, characterised by refreshingly crisp days and blue skies with occasional snowfall, whilst the temperature drops further at night. The lush summer months are an ideal time to view the wildflowers.
