Most of the Deluxe Valley rooms come with private terraces, king size beds or twins and spacious bathrooms. Bali-based architect Cheong Yew Kwan has infused accents of traditional Bhutanese design including sheesham-wood furniture and hand-painted flower motifs. In the open-plan restaurant and lounge bar guests can sample Bhutanese delicacies as well as international cuisine, and a selection of COMO Shambhala meals and fresh juices. At the COMO Shambhala Retreat, an atmospheric spa offers holistic rituals and Asian-inspired treatments.
Bhutan can be visited year-round, although the most pleasant weather occurs from March to May and from October to November. The winter months between December and February are particularly magical, characterised by refreshingly crisp days and blue skies with occasional snowfall, whilst the temperature drops further at night. The lush summer months are an ideal time to view the wildflowers.
