Mallorca / Cap Rocat

Picture an imposing nineteenth century fortress above the sparkling Bay of Palma, complete with drawbridge – this is Cap Rocat, now impeccably restored whilst retaining the original architecture.

Dominating two kilometres of coastline the property features elegantly-appointed rooms and suites set into former shooting buttresses, some with private patio and sea views. The El Cabo suite boasts unique artwork, three private terraces and swimming pool. In The Fortress Restaurant enjoy gourmet Mediterranean cuisine created by chef Victor Garcia, while the open air Sea Club in the spectacular Cala de la Reina is perfect for dishes cooked in a traditional Mallorcan firewood oven.

Evenings are for sitting back on the panoramic terrace to soak up the entrancing views of the Bay of Palma. Relax around the saltwater infinity pool, enjoy an in-suite massage or a holistic Ayurvedic ritual in one of the vaulted massage pavilions; explore by mountain bike or join wine tastings and cookery classes. Cultural experiences such as visits to markets and private villas can be organised.

When to visit Spain

Mainland Spain’s climate varies from temperate in the north to dry and hot in the south. Spring and autumn are pleasant and warm whereas July and August are hot, particularly inland. In Mallorca sunshine and warm temperatures are the norm from April to October with the cooling influence of the sea preventing excessive temperatures during the peak summer months, winters are mild and dry with occasional showers. Tenerife and Gran Canaria are year-round destinations, the climate being constantly warm for most of the year with July and August being hot.
