Maldives / COMO Maalifushi

The epitome of castaway barefoot chic, COMO Maalifushi is the first luxury resort in the Maldives to open in the pristine Thaa Atoll.

Sister property of COMO Cocoa Island, its understated style captures the essence of Indian Ocean living with accommodation created by leading Japanese designer Koichiro Ikebuchi. Choose from the beach suites nestled in the shade of the lush Como Maalifushi gardens, the decadent beach villas complete with private pools and direct access to the beach, or enchanting overwater villas leading off wooden walkways that stand above the crystal clear lagoon.

Dining experiences are simply unforgettable, whether you select the classic all-day fare at Madi with its exciting variety of Mediterranean, Indonesian, Thai and local dishes, or the delights of Tai serving Japanese cuisine with a sunken sushi and Teppanyaki bar. In the COMO Shambhala Spa, deeply relaxing holistic rituals such as the Hot River Stone Massage are complemented by world-class yoga and gym tone-up facilities. Surfers, divers and lovers of marine life will thrill to the sight of local whale shark, hammerhead and manta rays. Catamaran sailing and guided snorkelling expeditions can also be arranged.

Fly Fishing Fun

The natural sand flats fringing COMO Maalifushi are teeming with brightly coloured marine life including triggerfish, red snapper and bonefish. These shallow Indian Ocean waters are ideal for keen anglers and amateurs alike who want to experience the thrill of the chase with this exciting sport. Available from January to April, and committed to responsible fishing using the ‘catch and release’ method, you can spend three, five or eight hours out on the flats.

Guided SUP Tour

Explore COMO Maalifushi’s beautiful bay while practicing your balance on stand up paddleboard. This excursion will take you on a guided tour around the island and provides a fantastic core workout. For a greater adventure, you can also paddle to COMO’s private, off-coast island, Lavadhoo.

Whale Shark Night Snorkel

Dive into the elusive world of whale sharks at COMO Maalifushi. When night falls and the local fishing boats turn on their lights, swarms of plankton flock to the luminous water. If you're lucky, this occurrence will also attract an even bigger fish — the whale shark. While these gentle giants float vertically under the boats for hours, COMO's boat will take you from the resort to either join the whale shark under the water or observe from the deck.

When is the best time to visit Maldives?

The Maldives has a hot, tropical climate with sunshine all year round. The most popular months to visit are between November and April during the north-east monsoon when it is dry with very little wind. Whilst there may be rain during some of the summer months, with ever-changing weather patterns and excellent offers, this is becoming an increasingly popular time to travel.
